Hey All!

I know it's a wild time and I want to thank you for all the support of Mountain Bike Radio.

I want to invite you to another project I've been working on with my good friend Scott. We're two normal guys who are taking on some new life learning through the outdoors. If you're interested in things throughout the outdoors and off the bike, check out Woods 2 Ridges anywhere you listen to podcasts, YouTube, and on Instagram (Woods2Ridges). This will not be a regular Mountain Bike Radio show. We are in what I'd call a foundation phase of things, so you'll get the process, learning, and how the sausage is made (figuratively and literally)...

So, please check it out and if you know anyone who would be interested, please let them know.

Thank you,
Ben

---------------

ABOUT WOODS 2 RIDGES

"From the woods of Wisconsin to the mountains of Colorado, longtime friends, podcasters, and entrepreneurs Scott Jones and Ben Welnak spend their time learning how to live differently off the land and on the internet! There will be tons of epic failures, ideas worth considering, and education for anyone else looking for ways to do life just a little bit differently."

They really get deep into some classics and chat about Charlie Cunningham, Doug Bradbury, and more. Could there actually be a unicorn bike? Is it a dumb term or something that explains that one favorite bike? Listen in to hear Martin and Ben’s thoughts.

Please send any feedback, thoughts, and/or ideas over to us anytime to Martin at econdspincycles@gmail.com and Ben at Ben@Mountainbikeradio.com.

Andrea Wilson, from Just Riding Along, has been doing some writing over on Medium. In her latest post, she comes to the realization that, during the current pandemic, the best decision is to not to do an event she has prepped for over the last year. This is an audio version of that post. Enjoy and stay healthy!

ABOUT THE EPISODE

This is the first episode of a 5-episode special recorded on location in Bentonville, Arkansas. Host, Josh Blum, sits down with Luke Hall who is a Bentonville local with a very diverse background in cycling. They discuss Luke’s journey towards finding the bike again – his own Freedom Machine.

During the show they discuss the backstory behind why Luke decided to move to Bentonville from Kansas City. The guys also review the various jobs Luke has had related to cycling in the Bentonville region, which include: AirBnB host, web developer, bike shop employee, Rapha Popup Shop employee, multiple positions at Bike NWA, and most recently the coach of the H.S. Gravel Racing team, quite possibly the first and only H.S. Gravel Racing program in the nation.

They also go deep into why gravel riding and racing is important to Luke, as well as his thoughts on the humanization of cyclists and vehicles finding a common ground on gravel roads. Luke discusses what it was like to be invited on the preview ride for the first ever Big Sugar Gravel Race which will be hosted in October of 2020.

Currently Luke is a freelance Web Designer and Graphic Artist – Reach out if you are looking for those services.
