------------
ABOUT ANKA MARTIN
HEIGHT: 5’3″
DATE OF BIRTH: JANUARY 28, 1977
Bike Size: Small
Bike Setup Highlights:
I don’t have any crazy bike set ups really, I do like a specific tune on my rear shock, and two tokens in my Rockshox Lyrik fork, but for the most part I just throw some lube on the chain, and get out there on the trails.
From the Blog:
“This is my absolute favourite thing in the world to do (exploring new cool places with my bike), so I thought that starting an adventure trip just for women and teaming up with some of the best guiding outfitters around the globe could bring about a change. These trips could act as a platform for adventurous women to take the plunge and to go on a riding trip of their own—and then someday we’ll see groups of women out shredding with the token male tagging along. :-)”
Excerpt, Soul Trails
ABOUT SARAH LEISHMAN
HEIGHT: 5’3″
DATE OF BIRTH: APRIL 7
Bike Size: Small
Bike Setup Highlights:
Reverb set right up against my grip so I can reach. Levers close to the bars for my freakishly small hands. SRAM Quarq power meter 32 ring when I train—I take it off to race. Prototype Juliana saddle.
From the Blog:
“As far as the 2017 riding season; it’s already full of change. I plan to shift my focus away from the intensity of racing and battling on the Enduro World Series, and instead focus on bringing energy back into local events, media projects that are meaningful to me, and living my days like Chuck does.”
Excerpt, The Year of Chuck
ABOUT KELLI EMMETT
HEIGHT: 5’5″
DATE OF BIRTH: APRIL 7, 1977
Bike Size: Medium
Bike Setup Highlights:
I’m riding a new Reverb from Rockshox that I love! It has 6 inches of travel, which gives me plenty of room to get back on steep descents. Braking power helps my confidence a ton, so I take the extra weight and use 200 mm rotors in the front and rear. My Pike fork is set up soft at 45 psi with 2 tokens.
From the Blog:
“Don’t be intimidated. Take advantage of riding with the local pros in your community. Every time I hit the trails with female companions who are better riders than me, my riding progresses. I’m inspired to hit jumps and ride technical sections that I never thought were possible. Watching other women shred gives me the confidence that I can do the same.”
Excerpt, 10 Things I Wish I’d Known
More:
When it comes to racing and training, it’s fair to say Kelli knows a thing or two, and thankfully she’s not afraid to share it! Her blog pieces on strength and interval training are favorites around the office and around the internet. In fact, Kelli pushes a little too hard sometimes and found herself nursing a triple-fractured collarbone after a training ride last September!

Nathan, Tani, and Auk are on location for the Santa Cruz holiday party and are joined by the riders of the Santa Cruz Syndicate, Greg Minnaar, Luca Shaw, and Loris Vergier. They cover many topics, including the Syndicate, training, tire size, and more.
The Path guys welcome all of your questions and encourage you to send them an email with the subject “Podcast Question” to podcast@thepathbikeshop.com.
ABOUT GREG MINNAAR
Greg first started racing BMX at 4 years of age. He soon moved over to motocross and raced for 11 years before his parents bought a bicycle shop and his path to DH stardom began.
Greg was initially inspired by the rivalry between Nico Vouilloz and Steve Peat. He worked his way up to the Santa Cruz Syndicate team to eventually ride alongside one of those childhood heroes.
Greg’s won back-to-back World Championships on the Syndicate, and is widely recognized as one of the smoothest and most consistent DH racers on the circuit.
Greg’s personal sponsors include Oneal, Oakley, Kabuto, Oprtix, Five Ten, and Gamut.
ABOUT LUCA SHAW
Luca’s been on two wheels his whole life. He started off riding motocross at the tender age of 4, and got into BMX racing when he turned 8 and raced all across the country as an amateur. When he was 13, he did his first mountain bike race, and it’s been all downhill from there!
ABOUT LORIS VERGIER
Loris Vergier’s been racing bikes since he was 10 years old, and he brings two Junior World Cup titles, a Junior World Championship, and two Elite World Cup podiums with him to the Syndicate—we can’t wait to see what he can do.

Nathan, Auk, and Tani sit down to talk bikes, shop news, and bottom bracket heights. The first order of business is that they are missing Megan, but wish her a safe trip with borrowed gear. In shop news, all three locations of The Path Bike Shop are hiring a full time technician with competitive pay and full benefits. If you are interested email tani@thepathbikeshop.com with a resume to get something started. They go on a great tangent about how paying full benefits is the best thing to do for your employee is to pay their benefits our right, everyone wins. Next up in shop news is the Hightower LT (HTLT) are coming into stock now. GX Eagle is swooping into stock and everything has landed but the shifter. Tune in to hear more about what bikes are coming into the shop, what brands may be landing, and what bikes may or may not be able to be verified as real in this latest episode of The Path Podcast.

Nathan, Auk, and Tani get a long time dream going by getting some of the guys from Santa Cruz on the show. They go through a little bike history about where Santa Cruz Bicycles was first housed and what else was in the building - including the remote barn office. They get a little history of van life, prior to the hashtag and a little personal history on how to get REALLY fast (hint, commute with the TT state champ). The guys get the scoop on how Greg Minnaar pushed the 29er DH bike, and much more. Tune in and hear this great episode.

The whole crew isn't present, but Nathan, Auk, and regular guest Brendan get a show going for you. Normal shop news starts the show with special Kona models on sale at the shop June 7th through June 18th - 12% off and no tax. The new Santa Cruz Nomads are in stock - which leads to a big discussion of how to measure bottom bracket height, the guys discuss how Santa Cruz has very carefully not called the new Nomad an "enduro bike" which begs the question: is a long travel 29er coming? They continue on with a comparison of EWS to 24 hours of Le mans and downhill is like top fuel drag racing, why races should be on Sunday, and how Brendan's van build has shaped up.
