Todd Poquette of 906 Adventure Team Show Page

ABOUT THE EPISODE

Todd is always a force in the event world. He brings a can-do effort, a positive attitude, and a will to keep moving forward. Todd joins Ben to chat about the current atmosphere, the pandemic, events, and other life things. Todd has been a big supporter of all things Mountain Bike Radio over the years, so be sure to check out what he has going on up around Marquette, Michigan.

ABOUT THE 906 ADVENTURE TEAM:

"U.P. native and outdoor enthusiast Todd Poquette formed 906 Adventure Team in 2014 hoping to fill a void: While there were race teams and a handful of group rides, there weren’t any groups welcoming youth or adults new to the bike scene. At the same time, he learned through youth programs and event direction that people weren’t drawn to mountain biking just to compete. For many the allure was deeper, more personal – about adventure.

We’re not coaching for a win Tuesday night, we’re coaching skills for life

Big wins and difficult losses create lifetime memories and growth. What can kids truly take away from a championship season? We want them to prioritize effort, embrace the failures, develop positive habits, and focus on the journey. A win on Tuesday night is fun – and can provide some great stories to tell – but the habits they develop and the work they learn to enjoy will serve them down the road more than the win itself. There’s a certain level of maturity needed to view setbacks as opportunities, and through cycling we are helping kids develop a way to do that."

Todd Sadow of Epic Rides Show Page

ABOUT THE EPISODE

Todd Sadow has spent the better part of his life dedicated to having a great time on a bike. From the humble beginnings of a 24 hour party in the Arizona desert, to a nationwide series, he’s always maintained a down-to-earth attitude. That’s why I like having him on Mountain Bike Radio. In this episode, we chat about the current world of race directing, what Epic Rides is up to, and more.

ABOUT EPIC RIDES: “Epic Rides is a passionate group of individuals who care about sharing the outdoors from the saddle of a bike. We want as many people to ride bikes in this world as possible. Whether it’s to go to the store, to drop the kids at school, or to pursue fresh air and adventure trailside, we know a bike ride (no matter how long) does wonders for the soul.

Our events are a platform for personal achievement, camaraderie, challenge and life driving motivation (and satisfaction). Maybe even more notably, they are designed solely to deliver happiness to all involved while spreading the gospel of mountain biking.”

ABOUT THE EPISODE

Jay sits down with Ben during lunch to discuss what makes the Park City area special and share what the Park City Point to Point is all about.

The Point to Point course is a true point 2 point. Thanks to the plethora of trails, you will never be on the same trail twice. You will be riding singletrack for over 90% of the race (that’s a lot of 1-track) and the total distance is 75 miles with around 12,000′+- of climbing, all while traveling through two of the country’s premier mountain resorts. It will challenge your mental prowess, yet it will have you grinning from ear to ear.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Lane Wilson joins Matt to discuss how Oveja Negra Bikepacking has evolved through it’s history. Lane gives the background on how it all started, how they ended up in Salida, and what the company is doing today. Tune in to hear about a company that makes Salida, CO a little cooler just by being in town.

------------

ABOUT OVEJA NEGRA BIKEPACKING:

Since our start in 2012 we’ve been manufacturing top shelf bikepacking gear in the Upper Arkansas Valley of Colorado.  Born in a 300 square foot hole in the wall shop in the old mining town of Leadville, we’ve since moved our operation down valley to the river town of Salida, CO.  Every bag that bears our name is manufactured by a small team of dedicated and talented sewers right here in our Salida shop.  We’re committed not only to manufacturing in the United States, but doing so with as many domestically sourced materials as possible.  Beyond our ethos of domestic manufacturing, quality is king at Oveja Negra.  We are obsessive about the details and keep a close eye on every product, enabling our customers to focus on the adventure at hand.

ABOUT SEVEN POINTS CBD:

Headquartered in Southern California, a mecca for the active lifestyle, nearly everyone at Seven Points is part of the outdoor lifestyle scene. The founder, employees and many of our business partners participate in a variety of activities like cycling, snowboarding, kitesurfing & mountain biking and speed skating. As we all know, these activities often “reward” the individual with sports related injuries and pains associated with long term participation in your favorite sport. Since Seven Points CBD is a company dedicated to health, happiness and the active, outdoor lifestyle, we wanted to find an alternative to traditional pain killers and expensive, often addictive pharmaceuticals. As a result, we have created a brand focused on enhancing the recovery & wellness for athletes of all kinds.

The founder of Seven Points has personally seen the negative impact of prescription drug abuse & addiction, specifically prescription opiate based pain killers, and believes CBD offers a healthier, non psychoactive, non addictive alternative.

After a round of high fives and few more rain showers, Taylor Lideen set himself to his goal of riding twenty laps in the 24 Solo Male category. After a few touch and go moments in the night, Taylor got it together and set a new solo course record (and winning in the process). About the MN League

The Minnesota High School Cycling League, founded in 2012, is a state-wide independent activity provider for student-athletes in 7th to 12th grade. Our mission is to build strong bodies, strong minds and strong character through cycling, regardless of ability level.

Simply put, we get kids on bikes. Student-athletes from 7th through 12th grade come from all corners of the state to participate in races and programs. The majority of these kids have never ridden a mountain bike, let alone raced prior to participating in the league.  Our association has grown from just over a hundred riders to over 1,500 riders!

The MN League has become more than a racing program, we are a youth development program. Each year we get hundreds of new student-athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators. We firmly believe that cycling and an outdoor experience will leave a lasting impression on young minds and bodies.

The Buddy Pegs Story

Scott and Jannine Fitzgerald have a passion for steep adventure. Sometimes the adventure is on a bike, skis, or snowboard, but every day they seek it in their work.

Steep adventure is all about trying something new, pushing beyond your comfort zone, and realizing the rewards of taking reasonable risks in life.

In 2002, Scott and Jannine started a one-man bicycle repair shop in Jackson Hole, WY, and grew it into a Top 50 US bicycle retailer. While running Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, they saw the positive impacts bicycles have on people of all ages, and communities as a whole.

In 2015, they sold their bicycle shop to embark on a new steep adventure to inspire families across the country through children’s media and Buddy Pegs was born!
