The Path Podcast Show Page

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Nathan, Tani, and Auk are back for a “regular” episode of The Path. The new Santa Cruz Megatower? Yeah, they discuss some demos. Other news. Yeah. Tani throws out a lot of things, as usual, including an odd Austin – Portland comparison. BBQ? Listener feedback and a question. Plus a full discussion on injury, risk, and how to discuss it with others. Plenty of bike talk to go around!

The Path guys welcome all of your questions and encourage you to send them an email with the subject “Podcast Question” to podcast@thepathbikeshop.com

Hi, Really enjoy the show, it brings out the inner xc rider from inside of me (sorry that sounds a bit wrong). It has got me back into pedalling miles instead of trying to be a bro all the time! Keep up the honest outlook of working, riding and spending money on bike. Let me know if I could ever be any help to you. Cheers Tom
-Roy Pruett from Virginia sends over $10 with the note:
Matt and Andrea, thanks for the long convo in the shop about my broken 429sl frame and its replacement. I may look into repairing the frame but for now I’m a hardtail guy on my Superfly SS built up on gears (or not) until I get myself figured out. – Roy from Virginia

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

This week is all about AXS, Rocky Mountain Elements, and a little bit of Cardi-B. Tune in to hear what the crew has (or really hasn’t) had going on lately and catch up with their take on new products.

-----------

SHOW DONATIONS

-Duncan Muhjunkin from Texas sends $5 with the note: Aaaah yeah, Eagle Tap Bitches! Wait, what, AXS? Come on SRAM…. Anyways, thanks for the hours on entertainment! Another fun Texas fact, it’s perfectly legal to shoot Bigfoot in Texas. Duncan Muhjunken, from Bacon, Texas
-Matt from Kansas sends $25 with the note:Hey Y’all – hoping you can help my old ass brother and I choose the right mtb event for the next year. We did the Berryman Epic in 2018 and it was great as usual. Looking for something with more days (maybe a stage race), more miles / climbing across multiple days, etc.. but here’s the rub.. my brother doesn’t like anything too technical (big drops etc..). Again, he’s old as balls. Such a race might not exist, but if it did y’all likely know about it. Keep up the great show! Thanks! Statler and Waldorf

ABOUT THE EPISODE

Guitar Ted and Ben discuss a lot of topics about what is happening around the land of Riding Gravel. There are a lot of reviews, posts, new forum discussion, and plenty more. A gravel event directed by high schoolers? Is there an actual difference between gravel-specific products and mountain biking products? They spend some time digging into it all, discussing Guitar Ted’s new C.O.G. 100, and more gravel-ish things. Have a listen.

Front Lines MTB Podcast Show Page

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

At the beginning of January 2019, the “Outside In” Podcast released an episode called “Rake And Ride”. It tells the story of the impact of illegal or unsanctioned trails, and the interaction between the mountain bikers who created them, the officials who manage them and the users who find themselves on it by plan or misfortune. Host of the Outside In Podcast, Sam Evans-Brown joins me to discuss the episode, the response he got and his thoughts as a mountain biker in New Hampshire.

About Brent:

Brent is a Trail Builder with the North Shore Mountain Bike Association and focuses on the Upper and Lower Griffen Trails on Mount Fromme. Through his work with Trailforks he’s come to discover the world of advocacy beyond just his home in North Vancouver, and serving as the inspiration to create Front Lines MTB.

ABOUT THE EPISODE

MTB Ben sat down with Lilias Ide, who is the Events, Retail, and Marketing Manager for the Kingdom Trail Association. KTA, commonly referred to as Kingdom, is the go-to spot for great mountain biking, with over 100 miles of trails coordinated in partnership with local private landowners, the Burke Mountain Resort, and state-owned land.

Ben and Lilias chat about KTA, the trails, her experience and background, and the upcoming Winterbike. It’s a fun listen and a really great look behind the scenes of what they have going in Burke, Vermont.

Front Lines MTB Show Page

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Join an exploration of a community with both a multi-use Trail Association and a Mountain Bike Club. Brent’s guest is Daniel Cammiade of the Nature Trails Society in Victoria, British Columbia, located in the Southern end of Vancouver Island. They discuss whether an organization should identify as a Bike Club or a Trail Association, and how best to deal with a Land Manager that, simply put, isn’t interested in allowing mountain bike access.

MTB Ben headed over to JRA Cycles in Medford, Massachusetts to the attend their bi-weekly event called Trail Talk. JRA Cycles invites a member of the cycling industry into their store to host a conversation to engage their local community of riders. In this episode, they brought in Ken Avery from Vittoria Tires.

The Path Podcast Show Page

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Favorite tools? They share them. No guests either – the guys are on their own for the 90th episode of The Path Podcast. They discuss the Atherton racing situation, what goes into running a race team, and spend some time considering whether the move away from Trek is a good move. Then they start getting into the nerdy bike weeds and discuss components, bikes, and more. Tani is digging on his composite Wah Wah pedals and Nathan is done with Shimano brakes.

The Path guys welcome all of your questions and encourage you to send them an email with the subject “Podcast Question” to podcast@thepathbikeshop.com

ABOUT THE EPISODE

MTB Ben headed over to hang out with the crew at Papa Wheelies (who has supported this show this winter and we’re happy about that!) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. They all want to talk all about fat bikes, so that’s what you get!

This is a good episode if you or someone you know is newer to the sport and looking to get on a fatbike. So if you’re fat bike curious and are wondering where to start, what options there are, and how to get into the sport so you too can keep pushing pedals in the woods all winter long, this show is for you!

ABOUT EPISODE 13.5 – AQUARIANA GUESTS MARIANNE BOCOCK DOYLE & RACHEL MORGAN

Episode 13.5 is a fun little impromptu session with Marianne Bocock Doyle and Rachel Morgan, two of the participants at this year’s Aquariana hosted by Bikekitz. They have both decided to attend Aquariana, Rachael as a full weekend participant and Marianne as a single day participant. Needless to say, their experience so far has been everything they were hoping it would be, and possibly more. Both have now tried fat biking for the first time!
